
Students experience more stress than ever. They are participating in elite-level sports and competing for limited spots for post-secondary play, enrolled in high-level academic courses for college admission; navigating puberty & a changing body, juggling a full social schedule, attending to family needs, and more. The Athlete-Mindset continues this need to stay over-scheduled due to perfectionism and mental toughness. It is both their strength and their kryptonite. Unfortunately, this can lead to depression and other mental wellness concerns, physical illness and injury, and burnout. And if burnout hits, it can lead them to discontinue sports participation, and many will struggle to return to any fitness outlet in the future.
